Walking around Florence part 1

We walked to the center of town to see the many wonders that Florence has to offer. We went to the Piazza de Duomo where we saw the Florence Cathedral with the Cupola del Brunelleschi formally the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore and it has the world’s largest masonry dome. What a sight! We ate at a trattoria in the middle of town. We had pizza and calzone. We saw the Arcivescovile and Canonici’s palace and crossed the Ponte Vecchio. On the Ponte Vecchio you will see many shops, some very high end and other ones where you will be able to purchase souvenirs. You will find Pinocchio in most of the shops and if you are patient you will be able to purchase it cheaper than buying it in the first cart you see. The shop had it at 15 while the cart had it at/around 30. The Ponte Vecchio has beautiful views. Florence has one of the coldest waters from our trip and it is safe to drink. We refilled our bottles several times during our walk. The city offers free high quality purified water fountains at which you can fill up your own clean bottles with natural water and, in some cases even sparkling water, like in Piazza Signoria. We didn’t experience this one but we did drink from many of the fountains here. We saw the statue of David and many others but I will tell you more in our next blog.

Caminando por Florencia parte 1

Caminamos hasta el centro de la ciudad para ver las muchas maravillas que Florencia tiene para ofrecer. Fuimos a la Piazza de Duomo donde vimos la Catedral de Florencia con la Cupola del Brunelleschi formalmente la Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore y tiene la cúpula de mampostería más grande del mundo. ¡Qué espectáculo! Comimos en una trattoria en el centro de la ciudad. Comimos pizza y calzone. Vimos el palacio de Arcivescovile y Canonici y cruzamos el Ponte Vecchio. En el Ponte Vecchio verá muchas tiendas, algunas muy caras y otras donde podrá comprar souvenirs. Encontrarás Pinocho en la mayoría de las tiendas y si eres paciente podrás comprarlo más barato que comprarlo en el primer carro de venta que veas. La tienda lo tenía a los 15, mientras que el carro lo tenía alrededor de 30. El Ponte Vecchio tiene hermosas vistas. Florencia tiene una de las fuentes de aguas más frías de nuestro viaje y se pueden beber. Hemos rellenado nuestras botellas varias veces durante nuestro paseo. La ciudad ofrece fuentes de agua purificadas gratuitas de alta calidad en las que se pueden llenar sus propias botellas limpias con agua natural y, en algunos casos incluso agua con gas, como en Piazza Signoria. No experimentamos este, pero bebimos de muchas de las fuentes aquí. Vimos la estatua de David y mucho mas, pero eso te lo cuento en el proximo blog.
