From Orlando, Florida is pretty easy to get to Puerto Rico. I like to take either Jet Blue or Spirit to Ramey Aguadilla airport (BQN). Roundtrip can be as low as 250 and it takes about 2 hours and 45 minutes. Ramey Airport is on the small scale and when you arrive you actually come out of the plane via stairs. You have to walk in the runway to the baggage claim. There is only one baggage claim area and then you come out to the front of the airport where you can catch a shuttle to pick up your car (or you can rent a car right at the airport and pick up your car from the parking). I not only prefer this airport because of its size but also because is my home town. There are many rental car companies available and it you rent one that is not on the airport, the shuttle will take less than five minutes to take you to your car. Renting a car in BQN will for a week can cost around $150 plus the $200 deposit (if paying with a debit card just remember that this $200 will come out immediately but will be returned to you once you return the car). Of course you can arrive in the Metro Area (SJU) but, why would you when Ramey has so much to offer? Ramey is on the Northwest part of Puerto Rico and it is a slower pace than the Metro Area (frequently refered to as San Juan). You will find beautiful beaches surrounded by lush mountains and an unlimited amount of bars and restaurants. On the next blog we will talk more about Ramey and Aguadilla.
Desde Orlando, Florida es bastante fácil llegar a Puerto Rico. Me gusta tomar Jet Blue o Spirit hasta el aeropuerto de Ramey en Aguadilla (BQN). El viaje de ida y vuelta puede ser tan bajo como $250 y dura aproximadamente 2 horas y 45 minutos. El aeropuerto de Ramey es a pequeña escala y cuando llegas sales del avión por las escaleras. Tienes que caminar por la pista hasta el reclamo de equipaje. Solo hay una área de reclamo de equipaje y luego sales al frente del aeropuerto donde puede tomar un servicio de transporte para recoger tu automóvil (o puedes alquilar un automóvil en el aeropuerto y recogerlo en el estacionamiento). No solo prefiero este aeropuerto por su tamaño, sino también porque es mi ciudad natal. Hay muchas empresas de alquiler de coches disponibles y si alquilas una que no esté en el aeropuerto, el servicio de transporte tardará menos de cinco minutos en llevarlo a su automóvil. Alquilar un automóvil en BQN por una semana puede costar alrededor de $150 más el depósito de $200 (si paga con una tarjeta de débito, recuerde que estos $200 saldrán de inmediato, pero se le devolverán una vez que devuelva el automóvil). Claro que puedes llegar al area metro (SJU) pero porque si Ramey tiene tanto que ofrecer? Ramey está en la parte noroeste de Puerto Rico y tiene un ritmo más lento que el área metropolitana (a menudo conocida como San Juan). Encontrarás hermosas playas rodeadas de exuberantes montañas y una cantidad ilimitada de bares y restaurantes. En el próximo blog hablaremos más sobre Ramey y Aguadilla.
